Chainnels empower creators to monetise their content not only through creator keys but also with hashtag keys. Any user can create a channel centered around a hashtag phrase of their choice. Whether you anticipate a trending hashtag, want to engage in discussions about it, or simply create an exclusive channel for like-minded enthusiasts, we've got you covered!
Don't confuse Creator Keys and Hashtag Keys. Hashtag Keys can be created by anyone using any hashtag phrase. Users buying Hashtag Keys gain access to the corresponding Hashtag channel. Creator Keys, on the other hand, are made by creators from their own profiles, forming their exclusive clubs or channels for other key holders.
Creating a hashtag channel and minting the first key
To create a hashtag channel, mint the first hashtag key for that channel by clicking the 'Keys' tab at the bottom of your screen. Then, select the 'Hashtag' tab at the top of your screen. Here, you'll see all existing hashtag channels. Click the '+' icon at the bottom right to start minting the first hashtag key thus creating the channel.
You can mint the first hashtag key for a channel only if the channel name doesn't already exist. For instance, if you're minting the first key for #chainnels, the channel name #chainnels must not exist. Trying to mint the first key for an existing hashtag channel will result in an error message. However, you can still mint keys for that channel to gain access, as detailed in the next section.
After minting the first hashtag key, you and other users can mint additional keys, progressively increasing the key price with each purchase.
Minting more hashtag keys
After the first key for a hashtag channel has been minted, users may mint subsequent keys.
If you want to mint more keys from hashtag channels you already hold without searching the hashtag’s name, you can access this option from your own profile page! Simply visit your profile, click on the Keys tab, and it will show the keys you currently hold and holders of your key. Clicking on the 'Holding' subtab displays all keys in your possession. Click on any hashtag key to be directed to the minting page.
Don't confuse hashtag keys with creator keys. Hashtag keys won't have a profile picture and will start with a hash (#). In contrast, creator keys will display the creator’s profile picture and name.
You can also discover new keys for minting by clicking the 'Keys' tab at the bottom of your screen. Then, choose the ‘Hashtag’ tab at the top. Here, you'll find all existing hashtag keys, sortable by:
Trending - Displays all trending keys with sorting options in subtabs:
Subtab Trending: Displays keys that have the highest recent buy volume.
Subtab All Time: Displays keys that have the highest buy volume of all time.
Holders - Shows all keys sorted by the highest number of holders. This can also be sorted in ascending or descending order using the icon at the top left corner.
Price - Lists all keys sorted by the highest price. This can also be sorted in ascending or descending order using the icon at the top left corner.
You can also search for hashtag keys in this section by using the search bar at the top.
The price of a hashtag key rises with the minting of additional keys, creating a progressive increase. Being an early adopter or the creator of the hashtag key is particularly advantageous given this pricing structure.
Selling hashtag key
You can sell keys you own by visiting your profile and clicking on the Keys tab, which shows the keys you currently hold and the holders of your key. Clicking on the 'Holding' subtab displays all keys in your possession. Click any hashtag key to go to the minting page. Here, you can sell the keys by swiping left or clicking on the 'Sell' tab. After entering the total number of keys you want to sell, the final price will be displayed. Clicking 'Sell' completes the transaction.
With each key sale from a hashtag channel, the key's price drops, lowering the cost of the next key purchase from the current mint price.
