Chainnels empower creators to monetise their content. The introduction of creator keys enables users to establish their own channels without needing a token. When a user creates a key, an exclusive channel is generated, accessible only to other key holders. This effectively establishes a pseudo token-gated channel (owned by you) without the need to mint an actual token.

Minting your first key

To enable other users to purchase your key(s) and gain access to your exclusive channel, you must first mint your own key. In order to enable this feature, you will first be required to link your X (formerly known as Twitter) account to your profile. The initial key must be minted by you and cannot be sold, serving as a foundational step. Subsequent keys minted, including those minted by you, can then be sold.

If you haven't minted your first key for your own exclusive channel, you can easily do so from the home page or your profile. If there is no price indicated below your profile picture on the home page, it means your first key hasn't been minted. Click on the 'Mint' button to go to the minting page and follow the steps to mint your first key. The creator's first key is always free, but ensure your wallet is funded for gas fees.

After minting your first key, you and other users can mint additional keys, progressively increasing the key price with each purchase.

Minting more keys

After a creator has minted their first key, other users can mint additional keys from that creator. To do this, simply visit their profile page, click 'Mint,' and you'll be directed to the minting page where the final key price is displayed. Ensure your wallet is funded, and you're good to go! In case of insufficient balance, you'll also have the option to fund your wallet during the key minting process.

If you want to mint more keys from creators you already hold without searching individual profiles, you can access this option from your own profile page! Simply visit your profile, click on the Keys tab, and it will show the keys you currently hold and holders of your key. Clicking on the 'Holding' subtab displays all keys in your possession. Click on any creator’s key to be directed to the creator’s profile, making it easy to stock up on more keys from the same creator!

To discover new keys for minting, click the 'Keys' tab at the bottom of your screen. Then, choose the 'Creator' tab at the top (this is usually auto-selected in the Keys section). Here, you'll find all existing creator keys, sortable by:

  • Featured - Displays all featured keys sorted by the creator's boost rates using Sparks.

  • Trending - Displays all trending keys with sorting options in subtabs:

    • Subtab Trending: Displays keys that have the highest recent buy volume.

    • Subtab All Time: Displays keys that have the highest buy volume of all time.

    • Subtab Upcoming: Displays keys recently minted by creators.

  • Holders - Shows all keys sorted by the highest number of holders. This can also be sorted in ascending or descending order using the icon at the top left corner.

  • Price - Lists all keys sorted by the highest price. This can also be sorted in ascending or descending order using the icon at the top left corner.

You can also search for the creator’s key in this section by using the search bar at the top.

The price of a creator’s keys rises with the minting of additional keys, creating a progressive increase. Being an early adopter is particularly advantageous given this pricing structure.

Selling keys

You can sell keys you own by visiting your profile, and clicking on the Keys tab, which shows keys you currently hold and holders of your key. Clicking on the 'Holding' subtab displays all keys in your possession. Click any creator’s key to go to the creator’s profile. From there, click the mint button and go to the minting page. Here, you can sell the keys by swiping left or clicking on the 'Sell' tab. After entering the total number of keys you want to sell, the final price will be displayed. Clicking 'Sell' completes the transaction.

Selling your last key of a creator means losing access to their exclusive channel. To regain access, you'll need to mint at least one of their keys.

With each key sale from a creator, the key's price drops, lowering the cost of the next key purchase from the current mint price.
